Late Winter in Yellowstone was one of those memorable trips to Yellowstone that I take almost every year in March. March is great time to visit the park as everything is beginning to wake up but there is still much snow and the feel of winter before Spring is full stop. And the crowds are almost zero, so you can really take your time. I saw this seen on the far side of the Lamar Valley some years back and knew I wanted to paint it. To this day, it is one of my favorite pieces.
