“Painting in a somewhat detailed manner tends to contradict a sense of motion, so in my depiction of smallmouth bass plundering a school of baitfish entitled ‘Fall Frenzy,’ I tried to compose the scene so that the viewer’s eye would naturally move around the painting; being led in perhaps along the log and rocks at the bottom, back to the fish on the left, then across the image to the right and either out of the painting or back to the bottom to start over again.”
